The Bachelor of Arts with Honours in the field of Migration and Displacement is offered through the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS).

Overview


The African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand invites students to apply to undertake postgraduate programmes in Migration and Displacement. Based in the School of Social Sciences, migration and displacement is an interdisciplinary field encompassing a wide range of disciplines including economics, public health, political science, sociology, urban planning, and development studies. With migration and displacement being such important and hotly-debated topics, the course has a wide-ranging academic and practical scope. The programmes are taught by ACMS staff who are widely published and have conducted innovative research projects.

The Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Migration and Displacement degree is suitable for those who would like to advance their scholarly training in migration studies. 雷速体育_雷速体育直播s are expected to complete two mandatory courses, two elective courses and a research essay of 9,000 to 10,000 words.

Entry Requirements


Successful applicants need to have a good undergraduate degree (SAQA NQF Level 7) in any social science or related discipline. Candidates with relevant professional experience may also be considered.

Applications should include the following:

  • Academic Transcripts. An average of 65% or above is required for admission
  • Degree Certificate(s)
  • Clearance from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for degrees awarded by non-South African institutions. Please apply for SAQA Clearance at saqa.org.za

Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Click here to see an overview of the Wits applications process.   • Please apply online. Upload your supporting documents at the time of application, or via the Self Service Portal.
  • Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
