Overview
The Master of Commerce in the field of Cybersecurity Management is a strategic and research-led programme offered part-time over two years through a blended learning model. Delivered via intensive block release sessions, the programme combines coursework in year one with a supervised research report in year two.
In the first year, candidates explore cutting-edge topics such as Trends in Cybersecurity, Advances in Cybersecurity Theories, and Applied Cybersecurity Management, developing the strategic, governance, and analytical skills needed to lead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. The second year is dedicated to completing a 50% research report, supported by a rigorous Research Methods course, enabling candidates to contribute original insights to the cybersecurity domain.

Curriculum
The Master of Commerce in the field of Cybersecurity Management comprises both coursework and research components, structured to deliver deep expertise in strategic and operational cybersecurity.
In Year 1, candidates complete four courses that build core capabilities in cybersecurity strategy, governance, risk, and theory:
- Trends in Cybersecurity
- Advances in Applied Cybersecurity Management
- Advances in Cybersecurity Theories
- Research Methods
These courses equip candidates with the ability to interpret emerging cyber trends, apply critical theories, and design resilient organisational security models.
In Year 2, candidates complete a 50% Research Report, developing and applying original research under academic supervision. This component strengthens evidence-based practice, thought leadership, and scholarly contribution in the field of cybersecurity management.
Entry Requirements
To apply for the Master of Commerce in the field of Cybersecurity Management, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- An Honours degree in Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline, with a final mark of at least 65%
- A minimum of two years’ relevant work experience in cybersecurity, information systems, or a related professional context
The following documents need to be submitted with your application:
1. Certified copy of your degree certificates
2. Certified copy of academic transcripts as well as grade key
3. All certificates need to be transcribed to English if in another language.
4. SAQA evaluation (International applicants)
5. Proof of English proficiency (International applicants)
6. Curriculum Vitae
7. Letter of motivation
8. A brief (5-10 page) proposal outlining your area of research interest.
